I don't think I'll ever get tired of photographing surprise proposals. There's something so special about being part of a moment that someone has been planning for so long!
Sara and Parker had been together for five years. With Parker living in Tampa and Sara in Miami, he planned a weekend getaway to Marco Island so they could spend some time together. Little did Sara know, he had something much bigger planned!
Parker reached out to me to help plan his surprise proposal at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort. He knew he wanted to propose on the beach, but we also had to make sure Sara wouldn't get suspicious.
I arrived early, found the perfect spot, and sent Parker photos of exactly where I would be and what I was wearing. I gave him a few directions on where to stand so we could get the best photos, and then I sat casually on the beach pretending I wasn't waiting for anything haha
As they walked toward me, Parker got down on one knee and asked Sara to marry him. It was such a beautiful and intimate moment! I recorded the proposal and photographed her reaction, just as Parker had requested. And can we talk about that ring? Absolutely gorgeous and so unique!
After the proposal, we spent some time taking their engagement portraits on the beach. But the surprises weren't over yet!
Parker had also arranged for both of their families to stay at the resort. We called them over to join us, and seeing everyone celebrating together was so sweet. Sara's family is originally from Cuba, and as a Latina myself, I always love those little moments of connection with other Latino families.
And just when I thought the evening couldn't get any better, we had one of the most beautiful orange sunsets I've ever seen in Marco Island. The sky was incredible, and we ended the session with the prettiest sunset portraits.
I left that evening feeling so happy for them. Photographing proposals is honestly one of my favorite things because I get just as excited and emotional as the couples themselves!
So happy I got to be part of this beautiful moment for Sara and Parker!
