There's something about Fresh 48 sessions that makes them so special to me. Those first few days with a newborn are such a beautiful mix of emotions, excitement, exhaustion, and figuring out this whole new chapter of life.

I had the sweetest opportunity to photograph baby Gaia and her parents in Miami Beach, just after they welcomed their first baby girl into the world.

What made this session even more special was that their families live far away, so these photos were a way for everyone to meet little Gaia and feel a little closer to her until they could finally meet her in person.

We spent about two hours together, taking plenty of breaks for feeding, cuddles, and whatever mom and baby needed. There was absolutely no rush, and honestly, that's exactly how I love doing these sessions.

I always think about how quickly this stage passes. Between the sleepless nights, feeding schedules, and adjusting to life with a newborn, sometimes we forget to take photos of ourselves too. We take a million photos of our babies, but how many do we actually have with us in them?

One day, Gaia will get to look back at these photos and see not only how tiny she was, but also what her parents looked like when they were just becoming parents. And I think that's such a beautiful thing.

Whether a Fresh 48 session takes place at the hospital or at home, I always want families to feel comfortable. I take extra precautions around newborns, including wearing a mask and shoe covers when appropriate, and I always respect each family's preferences.

It was such a sweet, intimate session, and I feel so lucky that Gaia's parents trusted me to be part of these first memories.

Welcome to the world, sweet Gaia!
